The Sidewalk Astronomers were started by John Dobson and two young men he had helped to build telescopes.
Since then, John has continued to travel the world speaking to astronomy clubs and other groups of people about telescopes
and his views on the Universe.

John is doing well after suffering
a slight stroke in March of 2008. He is currently living in Hollywood and has resumed a limited travel schedule.
