Beauty Without Borders
Beauty Without Borders is a join project bewteen the Sidewalk Astronomers and Astronomers Wiithout Borders that
was started in 2009 with "An Evening for Venus" and followed by "Hello, Red Planet" this past January.
The Universe we live in is an amazing place, each day, each moment, there’s something beautiful to discover.
But many people fail to see this beauty.
As an effort to admire the celestial events and bodies, via Beauty Without
Borders we hope to get many people to stop for a moment and help them to rediscover the Universe they live in.
From
time to time, groups from all parts of the world will get together and enjoy amazing celestial views.
Seasons Without Borders is an Astronomers Without Borders project developed by AWB affiliates (who are also Sidewalk
Astronomers) in Brazil, India and Iraq. To celebrate teh change of seasons, SWB is set near the solstices and equinoxes
and is the perfect time to learn about and pass on information about the Sun's motion in our sky. Please visit
Seasons Without Borders page on the AWB website for information on past events.
Global Astronomy Month
During the International Year of Astronomy, many Sidewalk Astronomers were involved in the 100 Hours of Astronomy
and Galilean Nights Cornerstone Projects. The excitement of 100HA and GN was so great that it just had to continue. We feel
that a large part of the success of these projects was the amateur involvement and cooperation around the world, so it is
only natural that we, as an Astronomers Without Border affiliate, would be eager to be involved with Global Astronomy Month
(GAM).Designed to focus public attention on astronomy and to give amateurs around the world the opportunity to communicate
and work together, GAM is a global celebration of all that is possible, not only in amatuer astronomy but in humanity.
It might sound a little dramatic, but it is true anyway. We have amateurs from every part of the world working together, without
conflict, to find ways to share our passion with each other and with our local communities.
GAM will be
an extension of the 100 Hours of Astronomy project. Public observing, dark sky events, interactive online presentations, and
remote observing cover the entire range of astronomy interest and offere something for almost every amateur, regarless of
experience, equipment, or knowledge level.
Please visit the GAM website for event calendars, online events, program ideas, galleries, and blogs.
